THE PURPOSE BEHIND THE WORK

Potential is everywhere.
Connection opens doors.

Every young person deserves people in their corner and a pathway in front of them.

Leadership & Academic Development Foundation brings together caring adults, families, schools, churches, and businesses to help boys and girls grow in confidence, purpose, and possibility.

Through mentoring, leadership development, academic encouragement, and career exploration, LAD helps young people connect who they are with who they can become.

A few good
questions.

Who does LAD serve?

LAD’s mission focuses on boys and girls who can benefit from consistent mentoring, leadership development, academic encouragement, and career exploration. Families and youth-serving organizations can contact LAD to discuss local opportunities and program fit.

How can I get involved?

You can mentor, share a skill or career story, introduce LAD to a school or community organization, or support the mission through giving. Individuals, churches, and businesses all have a place in the circle. Explore ways to get involved.

What does becoming a mentor involve?

Mentors commit to meeting twice a month during an academic year and complete required screening, orientation, and training before student contact. You do not need to have all the answers. A willingness to listen, learn, and follow through is a strong starting point. Learn about mentoring.

How can a church or business participate?

Churches can invite members to mentor and connect LAD with ministry leaders. Businesses can encourage employee mentoring, share career experience, explore workplace exposure, or sponsor learning resources. Find a role for your organization.

What do young people learn in the nine-week curriculum?

The curriculum covers identity, self-leadership, communication, conflict resolution, financial literacy and entrepreneurship, responsible AI use, career pathways, teamwork, and a final capstone. The ERA framework—Engage, Rearrange, Attain—connects reflection with practical action. Explore the curriculum.

Does career exploration focus only on college?

Young people explore several possible directions, including college and certificate programs, skilled trades, entrepreneurship, technology and creative work, public service, and the military. The goal is to connect interests and strengths with informed next steps. Explore the pathways.
